Venessa Thompson, WHNP
Venessa first decided to become a nurse when she had her daughter. She had a “not so friendly" labor and delivery nurse and decided no women should ever have a bad experience with their nurse when they are having a baby. When her baby girl was just two months old, Venessa decided to start her career path to become a nurse.
Venessa received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1999 From Grand View University in Des Moines, IA. She then continued her education and received her Master of Science in Nursing in 2003 from ASU, with a certificate as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. She was board certified by NCC as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in 2004.
Her first experience as a nurse started in the antepartum unit of Good Samaritan. She loved taking care of her long-term patients but after they gave birth, she never saw the patients again. She then decided to go back to school to become a women's health nurse practitioner so that she could take care of her patients for their lifetime. Venessa has been practicing in the east valley for 16 years and still has a strong patient following.
In her spare time Venessa loves visiting her daughter and extended family in Kansas and Iowa. Her daughter finished her degree at the University of Kansas, and currently resides in Kansas City.
She also enjoys taking on DIY projects, hiking around the valley and attempting to grow vegetables in the Arizona heat. However, her favorite thing to do is traveling internationally. She has been to over 40 countries and looks forward to getting more stamps in her passport.
